HUMANITARIAN
Humanitarian aid is a term that covers a very broad and very important service. It ranges from food distribution to education and covers a million tiny but vital details that can be negleted in the chaos of a disaster.
At In-Sight we aim to provide the most diverse selection of organizations so that you can find one where your skillset is best utilized.
The NGOs listed in this section all work incredibly hard to secure and distribute supplies to people in need and to make the camp environments as pleasant as possible. They are run by some of the most dedicated people you can find.
Don't be discouraged if you are not a medical professional, language speaker, or have a specialized career. If you are willing to show up and work hard, you definitely fall under the category of humanitarian volunteer!

"Education can save lives.
In Lebanon, more than 500.000 Syrian children live after having had to flee their homes. In 2016, 359.278 of these children were not attending school.
Poverty is the main reason. Families here can't afford bus tickets from camp to school. Children have to work for their families to eat; 60% of refugee children aged 10-14 are seen working in fields and factories, in cement and construction.
With little chance at a future, the number of child marriages continue to increase and sexual exploitation alongside slavery are common realities for the children.
The Lebanese government has made generous efforts towards increasing the number of Syrian children in school, but international support and cooperation is highly needed.
At Salam, we are currently mapping out all educational efforts to identify the gaps."

HELPING AT HOME
At In-Sight, we understand that very few people are fortunate enough to be able to take the time away from their busy lives and spend valuable resources like time and money on mission trips.
If going abroad isn't an option for you but you are still eager to help, here are some ways to volunteer at home and make a difference for refugees with the help of your own community.
Educational outreach and advocacy are just as important as the work that is done in the field. Even if you don't find yourself working directly with the refugee population, your impact will be felt!

In-Sight was originally founded to help people in communities removed from the direct impacts of the refugee crisis have access to reliable and updated information on how they can help improve the situation.

Since we were founded in November of 2016, our founders, speakers, and teammates have presented at various school-sponsored and private events and hosted their own informational talks and exhibits of work from Through Refugee Eyes. All in all, we have been present at dozens of refugee-awareness events in the past few months.

For more information on how to host and organize an event, to feature a speaker from In-Sight, or to display photograpy and prints from Through Refugee Eyes, you can visit our Events Page

Hearts of Mercy Foundation- Southern California

"We believe that today, more than ever, it is important to give back to our local schools. This kind of impact affects not only today’s youth, but future generations as well. We felt it was key to also get the youth directly involved in helping improve or enhance their school. So we asked students of all ages a simple question 'What can you do today, to help your school become better tomorrow?' We then asked students to propose an idea to improve or impact their school. After presenting their project, a vote is cast and the best idea is implemented by the class for their school. We hope by providing the funding and support, that this will help to empower students at a local level, and ultimately instill a lasting impact for themselves and generations to come."
